The Petruzzelli family has been part of the Boca Raton community and active in the real estate business since the 1940s.
I.M. ‘Mario’ Petruzzelli moved his family from Atlantic City, New Jersey, in the post-war days and became a pioneer on Boca Raton’s barrier island. Petruzzelli purchased a 5-acre tract of land from the Atlantic Ocean to Lake Wyman for $34,000 with a goal of starting his own real estate company.
In 1947, he did just that.
Petruzzelli and his three young sons – Matt, Frank and Al – encountered virtually unlivable conditions in those early days, from insects to rattlesnakes, foul-tasting well water to Florida’s unrelenting heat and humidity.
He was one of the first to develop Boca Raton’s north beach area in what was then unincorporated Palm Beach County, building an oceanfront home and his business office directly across A1A.
Petruzzelli’s warm personality and extensive knowledge of oceanfront and Intracoastal Waterway parcels made him the go-to broker in the Highland Beach and Boca Raton area for many years.
In the early 1960s, two of his sons, Al and Matt, took the reign from their father and continued to run the family business out of the 2325 North Ocean Boulevard location.
Al Petruzzelli, a Florida Southern College graduate and a U.S. Army veteran, has remained active in Boca Raton’s real estate scene his entire life. “It’s been an unusually wonderful place to invest as well as a beautiful place to live, not to mention the life-long friends I have made,” he said.
Matt Petruzzelli, a University of Florida graduate and U.S. Air Force veteran, help found the Boca Raton Association of Realtors and was past president of the association. He moved to Florida’s west coast in the 1980s, establishing several successful realty companies there.
Now, a new chapter in the family’s successful real estate era is unfolding.
Dave Petruzzelli – Mario’s grandson – now operates the family’s landmark business office, as he and his staff will continue to serve the coastal communities on Florida’s Gold Coast.
A Boca Raton High School and University of Florida finance graduate, Dave Petruzzelli has been a licensed real estate professional since 1979. A past member of the Boca Raton Zoning Board of Adjustment, he and his family grew up on the barrier island and have been active in the community for decades.
Dave Petruzzelli has worked with both private and public company clients, attorneys, planners and architects throughout the country. He has consummated residential and commercial transactions throughout Florida and the United States.
Dave and his Petruzzelli Real Estate staff invite you to stop by their historic A1A business location to discuss your residential/commercial real estate needs.
