Petruzzelli Real Estate
The Petruzzelli family has been part of the Boca Raton community and active in the real estate business since the 1940s.
I.M. 'Mario' Petruzzelli moved his family from Atlantic City, New Jersey, in the post-war days and became a pioneer on Boca Raton's barrier island. Petruzzelli purchased a sizable tract of land from the ocean to the Intracoastal Waterway. That was back when oceanfront ground ran $150-175 per front foot. Petruzzelli secured the large tract for $34,000 with a goal of starting his own real estate company. In 1947, he did just that.
Petruzzelli and his three young sons, Matt, Frank and Al, encountered tough-living conditions in those early days – from insects to rattlesnakes, foul-tasting well water to the unrelenting heat/humidity. He was one of the first to develop Boca Raton's north beach area in what was then unincorporated Palm Beach County, building his oceanfront home and a business office directly across A1A. Petruzzelli's out-going personality and vast knowledge of oceanfront/ICW parcels made him the go-to broker in the Highland Beach and Boca Raton area.
In the early 1960s, two of his sons, Al and Matt, joined their father and continued to run the family business out of the 2325 North Ocean Boulevard location.
Al Petruzzelli, a Florida Southern College graduate and a U.S. Army veteran, has remained active in Boca Raton's real estate scene his entire life. Matt Petruzzelli, a University of Florida graduate and U.S. Air Force veteran, helped found the Boca Raton Association of Realtors and was past president of the association. He moved to Florida's west coast in the 1980s, establishing several successful realty companies there.
In October of 2017, a new chapter in the family's successful real estate business took flight. Dave and Steve Petruzzelli – Mario's grandsons – joined forces and moved into the family's iconic A1A real estate office. They brought with them more than 60 years of combined experience in the residential/commercial real estate business and are serving the needs of South Florida's Gold Coast.
